The Lake - Autumn Project with Cities and Memory Project
Khuvsgol Lake transcends time as one of the world's ancient lakes. In many ways, sound also transcends time - bringing back memories or making new ones. Time warps memories. To signify the memories of such an ancient place, sounds from the original are warped with strong echoes and reverbs as these sounds become a permanent fixture in the memory of the lake. This piece aims to act as if the great vastness of the lake's history was a tangible, physical place: large and chock-full of the sounds of history.
Deterioration (Raw Score)
Deterioration is a sound art/music piece that utilizes a cassette tape that allows viewers/listeners to pause, fast forward, rewind, and so on to listen as they wish. Over time, the cassette tape slowly deteriorates in quality, resulting in more and more distortion until it breaks completely.
The ever changing nature of Deterioration engages the listener with the fact that what they hear will never sound exactly the same and to illicit a form of dread.
Sheet music available upon request.
Musicality of A Cavy is a sound art piece that explores the musicality of guinea pigs. Some argue that the sounds of animals are not made with the same attempt at communication as humans and therefore cannot be considered musically inclined. This piece does not intend to change people's perception of this complex philosophical ideology, but instead to showcase the possibility of music within guinea pig vocalizations could be possible. It asks viewers: do you consider this music? What do you think music is or isn't? How does intention affect this?
